the asia rice cartel

i don't know why, but this rice cartel issue got me quite frustrated. as if prices of rice worldwide hadn't risen enough, a cartel will only result in higher prices when they try controlling quantity and setting higher prices for higher profits. rice, unlike oil, is a necessity for living. to me, modelling after OPEC is just wrong. oil(non consumption oil) and rice is different. one fuels people, the other fuels economic activities. rice, could very well be a matter of life and death. control should only to make rice affordable.

we'll just have to see how this cartel issue works out.
